Interview with Dr. Amon

In September, 2023, GHM’s Executive Director, Rev. Doug Cox, visited Selian Lutheran Hospital on the outskirts of Arusha, Tanzania. While there he had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Amon Marti, Director of the hospital, about Selian’s partnership with Global Health Ministries, a partnership that has helped the hospital navigate a remarkable turnaround.

Born and raised in a Maasai family in Arusha and a life-long member of the community, Dr. Amon has a special affinity for Selian’s staff and the patients who come to the hospital for medical assistance. He began his career as a clinical officer (Assistant Physician) at Selian in 2001, attended Medical School in Dar es Salaam and returned to Selian after his internship at Bugando Medical Center. Dr Amon’s experience continued to build as Selian sent him for special training in internal medicine. As Director he is responsible for all hospital activities from ward rounds in ICU and medical wards, to finances and human resources management. In this interview we hear directly from him.
