Community Health Consultant in Uganda
Current GHM Consulting Needs: GHM Consulting is looking for an individual to volunteer as a community health consultant serving with a team to support a consultation in the Mayuge Region of Uganda. The purpose of the consultation is to assist with the enhancement of the region’s community health extension worker (CHEW) program and improve the quality and delivery of healthcare. Magdeline Aagard, Interim Director of GHM Consulting, will be convening the consultation team. The consultation team, which will travel to Uganda, will be comprised of an individual with leadership experience, a physician from Uganda who lives in the United States, and an individual with community health experience. There is a team in Uganda who the consultation team will be working with. In addition, there will be team support in the U.S. as needed.
Expertise: This individual should be an individual with experience in community health, particularly in community health worker programs. Experience working in a developing country would be beneficial but is not required.
The project objectives are to:
Improve the region’s healthcare through the enhancement of their CHEW program.
This will include:
reviewing the CHEW training, determining current training needs,
developing and creating CHEW training materials, and
reviewing the healthcare outcomes the CHEWs are monitoring, determining if these are the relevant healthcare outcomes to measure, and revising the measures.
Time commitment:
This is a 3-year project. During the three years we anticipate 1-2 visits to Uganda each year. Zoom calls with the team will occur monthly during the first year and quarterly thereafter. Costs associated with travel would be covered by GHM.
