2024 Fall Symposium

Who is Our Neighbor?

GHM’s annual fall gathering is focused this year on the idea of neighborliness - a theme inspired by the writings of Rev. Dr. Walter Brueggemann, one of the most prolific Biblical scholars of our time.

Join us as we consider the idea of “who is our neighbor” in light of science and faith. Our speakers this year include Lon Kightlinger who served the church in Madagascar for 20 years in medical and public health positions before becoming State Epidemiologist for the South Dakota Department of Health. Upon retiring, Lon returned to Madagascar as a Peace Corps health volunteer, until the Covid-19 pandemic prompted his return to the US. Dr. Michael Chan is Vice President for Mission and Inclusion at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Prior to this position, Dr. Chan was associate professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary in St. Paul.
